media

I can handle most forms of traditional media, but I'm especially strong with digital media. I do most of my finished work in Adobe Illustrator. Vector-based images have the advantage of being reproducible at any size without loss of resolution. If you want a clean, crisp look to your commission, this is the way to go -- plus I'm happy to provide the original sketch that I used to create the final version as part of the commission package.

Otherwise, I work mostly with ink and Tria markers. I have limited experience with painting, but I wouldn't say it's my strongest point. If you want me to attempt to paint you a commission, I'll try, but it'll almost certainly cost more. Note that I don't have immediate access to paints, so that'd be a slight delay.

rules

Subject Matter
No scat, watersports, necrophilia, pedophilia, bestiality, snuff, copyrighted characters, or clowns. :P I also reserve the right to refuse additional particular subject matter requests on an individual basis, at my discretion. (The only exception to the copyrighted character rule is if either 1. the character is copyright to you, or 2. you have express consent from the character's creator -- which is potentially subject to vertification.)

Reproduction/Distribution
I retain the right to make and sell reproductions of the work, if I happen to like it. Feel free to redistribute the commission I do for you wherever you like, with several rules:
1. The work remains whole and unaltered.
2. I'm credited.
3. You're not redistributing it for profit (i.e. through prints or such).
4. If it's an X-rated work, ask me first. I may not be comfortable with you posting it, although I'm generally not too severe about this.

Reference/Style
Reference for your character(s) is very much welcome and encouraged. If you have a fixed color scheme or one in mind, or a style you like, please provide examples. The more I know about what you specifically want, the better I can make your commission. I tend mostly towards cartoony, dynamic styles, but I have made forays into others (I used to draw anime neko-chicks as a teenager, and Garfield before that), so I'm somewhat flexible as far as that goes. I enjoy the challenge of emulating other styles, too.

Scheduling
Once I've received payment, I'll start work on a draft of your piece, and show that to you. You can elect to approve it or make changes as needed. Once I have final approval from you, I'll finish it up.

Feel free to e-mail me to track the status of your commission. If you need it by a specific date (i.e. in time for a convention), please let me know at the outset, and give me at least several weeks to several months' lead time, depending on the complexity of the work. I will seriously, honestly do my best to finish your piece as quickly as time allows, but be prepared for delays if I have to do research or if the image has complex, intricate elements. Please do not e-mail me repeatedly asking about the status of the commission. I don't mind answering a few e-mails, but if you harass me about it frequently, I'll just refund you the fee, and that'll be that. OK? I don't like being mean about this, but some people have simply burned me.

rates

My rates are not fixed. Rather, they're based on time spent, cost of materials involved (if it's traditional media), complexity of the commission, and so forth. E-mail me with precise information on just what you'd like, and I'll provide you with an estimate based on that. Once we've agreed to a set fee, I'll take half up front and half upon delivery of the finished job.

Forms of payment I accept are personal checks and PayPal. I will only accept cash at conventions or if you're local to me.
